Red Lips and Guns (Part 4)

The next morning, Nathan awoke early and began getting ready.
"Where are you going?" asked Natasha in a sleep voice.
"I have an assignment to finish today," stated Nathan. "You know I can't talk about it, and I need to go. I'll be back late so don't stay up waiting for me." Nathan kissed her on the forehead and headed out the door.

He didn't want to leave Natasha so soon, but he had to. He needed to do this or he would lose his job. He had to kill the head of the Russian Mafia for public safety. He looked at himself, he wondered, how could he love someone when he kills people, how could he truly love when he takes the lives of those around him, what kind of monster is he, what kind of world did he bring Natasha into. He should of stuck to what he knew. All Nathan knew is he was going to finish this assignment, then maybe Paris with Natasha, he had saved enough money, he had always wanted to move to Paris.
His mind was not in his assignment as he caught a cab and headed out to the east side of the city. The cab took him there he was so out of it that he did not even think to switch cabs along the way or take any of the normal safety precautions.

She didn't want to wait around she followed him. She found it oddly easy. She was nervous that something was going to happen, but she didn't show her fear. They reached the docks. She made her cab pull up farther from the dock. She watched Nathan get out and remove a Beretta from his jacket.  He went walking onto the barge, it was full of cargo he walked around looking for the man, anyone, he wasn't seeing a sign of life anywhere on the barge. Nathan began to acquire the feeling that he was being followed by someone or something. Then he saw a note, he grabbed it off the cargo and turned he saw Natasha standing in front of him.
"Why are you here?" asked Nathan shocked by the presence of Natasha.
"I followed you. I don't know why I felt inclined to," replied Natasha.
"You shouldn't have-" began Nathan.
"What is that?" asked Natasha.
"A letter," replied Nathan realizing what was in his hand once more.
"Read it," commanded Natasha curious.
Dear Nathan,
I have seen a lot of agents come and go through this agency, I know love when I see it, I also know love can be so damaged by this job. I am sending both of you to Paris, where you can live in peace. You will be granted both your shares of money and there will be no more killing for either of you. For how can you kill and love at the same time? Keep in touch, and I hope Paris offers you a prosperous life. By the way that is where this barge is headed. Everything is all arranged. May your new life be adventurous.
 Seamus.
"What does it say?" asked Natasha.
"We're going to Paris, we're done with this life, we can get married and have a family," Nathan felt the words just flow from his mouth. That was it he was done, he could finally love.
Natasha seeing the expression on his face ran up to him and kissed him, as the sun rose over the skyline. Nathan felt those red lips and dropped the Beretta.  Natasha was happy, she only ever joined this job because she was in love with Nathan. He continued because he thought he was bound, now with Seamus releasing him. It was the sunrise of a new life in Paris. A new life for the both of them.

I hope you enjoyed Red Lips and Guns. I am so sorry it took me so long to finish. I did not have time over the holidays and the new year then had to get back into a new semester of school.
