See the Sea

Hey ya!
Here is the story I promised, so kick back with some sweet tea and enjoy!

She clicked her pencil on the desk, waiting, patiently for the bell to ring. As she stared at the clock, seconds became minutes, and minutes became hours. It was painful to wait. Her green eyes became hazy and unobservant to everything else around her. All she wanted was to get out of this stuffy classroom and head to where she belonged, the beach.

There was something about the soft sand between her toes, the wind in her long blonde hair, the sea salt misting, and just soaking up the sun. She was not one of the bikini models, but she was not terrible looking in a swimsuit. Her height was five eleven, taller than most girls in her class, which made her stand out and not feel as though she belonged in school, and maybe she didn't, but it didn't matter Isabella only ever felt she belonged at one place and that was the beach or on the ocean. She loved it and it could not hurt or betray her like so many others had done before.

As Is began daydreaming, the bell rang. Is bent over, grabbed her things and headed straight for the door, where she was stopped by her blabbering friend, Jade.  Here the term friend is used loosely. Jade was someone Is could talk to, but other than that she never truly understood Is nor did Is tell her anything important, because if she did, the entire school would know.

“What’s the problem now is?” asked Is who just wanted to get out of here.

“It’s Brad. Men are so stupid, I swear,” stated Jade. Is just rolled her eyes and listened as Jade ranted the whole way to their lockers, sadly for Is, their lockers were right next to each other.

After Is had haphazardly gathered her things into her messenger bag, she said, “I would love to stay and listen Jade, but I have to get going.”

“Where are you off to in such a hurry?” asked Jade.

“Oh you know, I have things to do, people to see,” replied Is with a shrug. Jade would have a lot to talk and joke about if she knew that Is was going to the beach again, if she knew how much time Is spent there.

“Is you know you can tell me right?” asked Jade hoping almost pouting for an answer. Is knew better, she knew all Jade wanted to do was talk.

“It’s just some errands, nothing important,” shrugged Is as she walked away from Jade, “Have a good evening see you tomorrow.”

“See you,” Jade replied shaking her head as she turned back to her locker. Is let out a heavy sigh, headed out to her car with a pep in her step. The warmth felt so good and all she could think about was spending time lying on the beach, just close enough to the ocean that the waves would curl around her feet. Is smiled as she threw her bag in the back seat of the old Jeep Grand Cherokee that she drove. She hopped into the front see, turned the key, put the car in reverse and backed out of her parking spot and headed toward the open road. She was one of the first ones out of the school, but that didn’t matter she didn’t want to stand and talk to everyone, that was not her. She had known those people to long and she was happy that this was her last year of high school. She wanted to see the world.

In no time Is reached the beach. She grabbed the bag that she always kept in her car. That bag contained all the beach things she needed, her parents who knew how much she loved the beach always bought her things for the beach. She smiled as she took off her sweaty tennis shoes, put on her flip-flops, put her sunglasses on her face, and swung her bag over her shoulder. It was very relaxing. The beach she always visited was very quite and secluded, it was a bit rocky and that was why the tourists didn’t find it ideal, but to Is it was perfect.

She laid her towel out on a soft spot and she put herself on top of it soaking up the sun, and enjoying the warm weather. She let her mind wander into the field of dreams, and while she laid in the sun and enjoyed the warmth, she dreamed of something she hadn’t thought about since she was a child. She dreamed of merpeople, and there wonderful underwater kingdom. There was one in particular though that struck her. He was a tall, muscular lean merman. He had dark wavy hair that came just to his shoulders. His eyes were a soft blue, but his features were chiseled and strong like the rocks. His tail was a deep teal, and brown color that blended with the surrounding sea.

Then Is heard a splash and she awoke quickly from her dreams. She looked about her wondering if she had imagined it, then she noticed something in the water, it was a large fin. Is rubbed her eyes and looked again, but was gone. She believed herself to be hallucinating. The sun must have gotten to her. But what if she wasn’t? “Stop feeding your imagination.” Is picked her things up and headed to her car, little did she know that someone or something as it might be known was watching her and was disappointed she was leaving so soon.

Here is part I, part II will be up next week! Hope you enjoyed!
