See the Sea (Part 2)

Hey Readers,
I apologize for such a late post, Summer has been so busy that I haven't had much time to post. But today I am back with more to the story See The Sea.

Is tried to focus on her homework, but on the man, who had appeared in her dream. The man had appealed to her not just because of his looks, but also because of his attitude. He seemed very cordial in her dream, along with the glimpse of kindness in his eyes. He was a change of pace from the "boys" she spent her school days with.
She flipped another page of her text book, but it was hard. He kept her focus. The problem was that Is could not convince herself that he was not real. She kept trying, but then she gave up and flipped the book shut.
It was ten o'clock at night, she laid in bed, but she could not sleep. He consumed her thoughts, she kept wishing he was real. Maybe he is.  She thought, but she new better. Men in dreams were too good to be true. Is lay in bed not able to sleep, suddenly and idea came to her mind. She would go and see if she could learn why she had dreamed of this man at the beach. The best place to do this research was at the beach. Is got out of bed silently, she grabbed a pair of shorts, sandals, and a T-shirt. Her home was not very far from the beach so she did not need to drive herself, which would have alerted her parents.
Is crept out of her room and down the hallway, she was careful to avoid any creeks in the hallway and the stairs. Is silently made her way outside without getting caught. It wasn't too difficult for her parents were heavy sleepers, but her younger sister was not, and she would be willing to tattle on her.
Once Is was outside she breathed a sigh of relief. She was so glad that there had to be no explaining to her parents.
On this night the moon was full and bright as she made her way down the street, which in five short blocks turned to sand. The moon was a beautiful cool light and it was magnificent on the ground and the sea below. Is loved the sight and wished she had someone to share it with. She stood on the beach and stared at the beauty, lost entirely in the magic of it. Brought out of the world of reality into an imaginary one that was better than any dream she had ever had. That lasted for what felt like forever, when Is heard a sound behind her. She whipped around to see a handsome young man behind her. His hair was a sandy blonde and long enough that it reached his shoulders. His eyes a sharp glistening sea blue. His skin a sun kissed tan. A strong muscular build that was shone off because he was only clothed from the waist down. He was every bit as handsome as the man she had seen in her dreams, and as she thought about it. He looked just like the man in dreams. Is moved closer, arm out stretched to see if he was real. She wanted to touch him to make sure she had not gone crazy. She moved closer, to her surprise he grabbed her hand. Is was shocked, most of the time she repelled people, especially ones that looked as good as him.
"Isabella, what are you doing here this time of night?" he asked, his tone deep and soft.
"How do you know my name?" Is was confused. This man was real, she could feel it, but how did he know her name.
"I have seen you many times on the beach. I have heard you say it to others," he replied innocently.
"If you have seen me at this beach, then how come I have never met you?" Is asked. He looked away Is had heard legends, before she never wondered if they were real, but now she was almost certain it was. "your -"
"I am a man of the sea, a subject of Poseidon, I am a merperson," he responded sheepishly.
"Why do you look down at the mention of who you are?" asked Is.
"Because I have wanted to be a man of the land, and a subject of Zeus for a long time," he replied.
"Then how is it you can walk on land?" Is inquired.
"I can change my form through magic, to blend in, but even slightest drop of water if not wiped of can expose my true form," He replied.
"That is how you have come to me on the beach, while I was sleeping," Is replied. Staring at him and amazed by the truth.
"Yes, we are not to expose ourselves, but I knew as soon as you came here tonight, you would know the truth," he replied. "I am sorry."
"Don't be sorry, like mystery. It's more interesting then homework. What is your name?" Is asked
"Devon, but everyone calls me Dev," He replied with a grin.
"Well Dev, pleasure to meet you,"Is smiled as she shook his hand.
"The pleasure is all mine, Isabella."
"Call me Is, my friends do." Is faked a smile.
"That's not a real smile, do you not have friends?"
"I have one, but she is not a very good one." Dev nodded in response as though he understood. "All this mystery has me up for a few more hours. I have never seen the beach at night, care to join me?" Is asked.
"Of course, Is." Dev smiled and it warmed Is. Most people would have called her crazy, but there was something in Dev's eyes that knew he was telling her the truth. As they walked along the beach, they talked. Dev asked many questions about the human world, and Is answered them as best as she could. Is also asked questions about Dev's would. Is was blown away by the beauty Dev seemed to describe, it was a foreign world, far beyond what she had ever known.
"How can you not like that?" asked Is.
"It is I don't like it, I just don't belong," he replied. Is agreed, she knew all about not belonging. Before Is knew what she was doing, she pulled him into a hug. Is could feel Dev was tense for a moment and then relaxed as she looked him in his eye.  He was beautiful with the light glistening off his hair and the darkness around him.
Dev stared at her, he could not believe she had hugged him. The humans he had known had not shown that much compassion to him before. The best part about Is was she was more beautiful than place he had called home. At that perfect moment in time, he couldn't help himself any longer. He dipped his head and kissed, the most beautiful girl he had ever laid eyes on.
In that moment there was no longer a world around them, there was just them all alone on the beach.
