Here it be, X marks the spot...
Aymeth gathered her things, she was dressed in clothes made for traveling. She was dressed in a tunic and leggings, boots, a sword at her hip, a quiver on her back, a bow on her hand, and her light blonde hair pulled up into a high pony tail. She left the den and met Dayon. She didn't know where she was going or how long she would be, but that was the best part about leaving on an adventure. She had not had one of these in ages and the best part was that she was going with Dayon.
They walked down the path enjoying each others company. Before they knew it they had made their way deeper into the forest. It was a part of the forest Aymeth had not been to before.
"Where are we?" asked Aymeth finally. She had moved her hand onto a sword.
"Not far from where I was raised," Dayon replied. "It's just behind this veil of trees. We use it as a border into our realm. We do not want people stumbling across our home, so our spell weavers use many tricks of magic to protect it." Dayon muttered something Aymeth did not understand. Within moments it was as if a curtain had risen. Aymeth could see the homes the elves had made within the groves of the trees, and all the elves, as beautiful and as tall as Dayon. Everything here seemed to have an unnatural shimmer to it. "Come along," said Dayon as he took her hand and stepped through. Aymeth could not get over the beauty of the place. Even as a nymph she had never seen anything so beautiful in her life. As they walked along many elves greeted Dayon by name, but no one asked why she was with him.
"Why does no one ask about me?" asked Aymeth.
"They know they will know soon enough, and most of them have psychic abilities and could tell you the whole story right now," replied Dayon.
"How will they know?" asked Aymeth, "Do people spread rumors here?"
"Usually when it involves the prince, yes," replied Dayon. Aymeth was shocked. He had nobility and kindness, but she assumed he was just being respectful, but she did not assume he was the prince.
As the reached the palace, Aymeth felt her stomach churn. She had never been so nervous in her life. She was thinking about what if the King of the Elves did not accept her, she could no longer have Dayon. She would have no reason to live, because it was then that she realized how much she had grown attached to Dayon. She did not want to lose him. A handsome young elf opened the door for them, recognizing who Dayon was, he escorted both of them to the throne room. There Dayon grabbed Aymeth's hand and whispered in her ear. "It will be alright, I promise."
Then Dayon's father entered the room. He was just as tall, as handsome, nearly an exact copy of Dayon, but he had a few more scars and looked only a bit older than Dayon. "Son," he said, his voice hard and strong, "Welcome home again, and with a woman, I never thought I would see this day." He came forward to his son and embraced him. "I have missed you," stated his father.
"It has been too long," Dayon replied. Aymeth caught the glimpse of a tear in is eye.
"Who is this woman of yours?" asked Dayon's father as his gaze turned to Aymeth and he began to circle her.
"Her name is Aymeth, she is a nymph of the forest. She lives with her family," replied Dayon.
"She is a wolf, of magical capabilities You both come because you are both dearly in love," replied Dayon's father. It scared Aymeth that he knew so much about her.
"Yes and we ask for your blessing," stated Dayon. His father had stopped circling Aymeth. He continued to gaze for a moment and then he paused.
"And my son you shall have it. She is a fine young woman, who has fought valiantly for her family. So she does not need to fret over her family anymore, they shall be welcome to live here under the protection and care of the elves. I will send men for them instantly while we prepare the celebration. Drinks all around," replied Dayon's father, his face grew merrier as he spoke.
Dayon in all the excitement at his father's words turned to Aymeth and kissed her passionately.
